The Light of the World

God says we are the light of the world and that we are to let our light shine before men:

"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16.

Why are we to shine our light? So others can see our good deeds and praise God. Obviously, no one can see our good deeds and praise God for them unless we are DOING the good deeds!

This blog is dedicated to facilitating the works (deeds) God calls us to do. Even if we have no idea what "grand plan" God has for us as individuals, we know from His word that we are to help others - to feed, give drink, clothe, and visit. In fact, He says that if we help a stranger, it's as though we are helping Jesus Himself:

"Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?" The King will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me."

Let's be about the business of serving Jesus by serving others.
